Now through December 2007, the Ybor City
Museum Society presents Tampa y Cuba: The
500 Year Connection. This timely exhibit
explores the historic links between the Tampa
Bay Area and the island of Cuba. The exhibition
begins Saturday morning with a guided walking
tour of Ybor City lead by local historians
and continues at the Ybor City State Museum
with live Cuban music, local Cuban artists,
a Cuban cooking demonstration, and a round
table discussion about Cuban culture in Tampa.
Historical photos and artifacts will be on
display, telling the story of Tampa's long
relationship with the island nation. From Cuban
Seminoles to cigar rollers, learn more about
the historic Tampa-Cuba connection.
